My name is Dan, and I’m running for office because I love Maui and everything about this island that sets it apart from the rest of the world (including the rest of Hawaii). I’m a husband, a father of two young children, and was born and raised on Maui with four generations of family here. After graduating from UH Manoa with a degree in Finance, I’ve navigated a successful career in project management over the past decade. Through my experience, I have come to understand many of the core reasons for our state’s exceptionally high cost of living. It saddens me when local families can no longer afford to live here and are forced to leave. My heart's desire is to prioritize reducing the cost of living through state tax adjustments, incentivizing local homeownership, while preserving our values, liberties, natural resources, and the resources of our community.
I humbly ask for your vote to serve as your representative.

We are a grassroots campaign, so we rely solely on support from people like you. Please join us in our mission.

We need to work hard to fix the housing market in Hawaii and tip the scale in the favor of local residents. As a construction project manager, Dan know what makes building efficient and what makes it expensive. We need major structural changes including reducing the bureaucracy and unnecessary regulations that slow down the permitting process. We need to reduce property taxes for owner occupants while discouraging corporate acquisition of residential property to ensure single-family properties are owned by Hawaii residents, and not as investments.
Hawaii's K-12 school system was rated 42nd in 2025. We need to give parents control of educational decisions, including the choice of public, private, charter, or homeschooling. Dan supports the implementation of a voucher system, in which the funding follows the student. If a parent decides to send their child to a school other than the DOE public school, they would receive a tax credit for the amount that student's education would have cost the state. We also need elected school boards, not appointed by a single executive. We need to put the power back in the hands of the families who are invested.
Let's support small businesses and provide incentives for our state to produce and create things again. We believe that we can restore our economy to diversify what we produce and create more opportunity for our keiki. We need to vote for common sense laws and simplified governance that remove barriers to entry, over-regulation of manufacturing, and that support expansion into new industries. We need to retain our entrepreneurs instead of forcing them to move out of state to other states that are more business friendly.
We support reasonable sustainability and environmental management. We need to navigate the line between our housing shortage and over-development by fast tracking the right projects and preserving our natural spaces and historical zoning. Dan has experience in the renewable energy industry, and understands the high costs of energy and he supports grid resiliency. However, we cannot take extreme measures such as banning the sale of gas vehicles by 2030 as others in the legislature have proposed. We need to make informed decisions that take into account all aspects of our economy and take care of our residents first.
Upcountry Maui has had a water supply problem for too many years. The state watersheds are currently managed by others, but there need to be rules in place to prevent any potential conflict of interest. However, the infrastructure is the responsibility of the state. Water shortages and 20 year waiting lists for water service need to end. Dan will allocate state funding to increase water storage systems to increase the supply from the rainy seasons to cover for the droughts and aim to provide sustainable water for the people.
We support the reduction of income tax and will advocate for providing GET tax exemptions for food and medical services, as well as abolishing property tax for owner-occupied residential property. Our state should instead gather revenue from expanding agricultural production exports, and from goods and services being sold outside the state. Taxation should be used to discourage the sale of residential property to non-owner occupants, and then use funds to issue housing bonds for lower-cost mortgages.
We support family values, personal freedom, and individual responsibility. Dan is socially conservative and holds traditional Christian definitions for life and gender. This means he will support legislation to protect a child's right to life once a heartbeat is found, protect girls' sports by defining participants by their sex at birth, and will support parent's rights in protecting their children from making major health decisions before they are 18 years old.
Our state has the most executive power of any other state in the nation. We need to provide more checks and balances in our government to ensure transparency and accountability. Dan will support legislation to allow all Hawaii voters to select their Sheriffs, Attorney General, and School Boards. These positions are inherently compromised if they are being appointed by the Governor, and not the people to whom they should be accountable.
The state's response to the 2020 pandemic has revealed an authoritarian nature. We oppose any medical mandates, restricted mobility, and infringement on the right to assemble. Dan will not support any digital ID, surveillance, or government intrusion into personal privacy. He is also an avid supporter of the 2nd amendment and will fight to preserve a lawful citizen's rights to bear arms, hunt, subsist, and protect themselves.

A father and husband, Dan is invested in the future of Maui. He has had 4 generations of family here, going back to WWII. He is fully committed to ensuring Maui is a secure home for all locals and multi-generational families.

Dan has over a decade of experience in the construction industry with a diverse background managing commercial, hospitality, multi-family residential, and renewable energy projects. He has natural leadership qualities in every situation and has experience managing people and large-scale projects.

Whenever possible, Dan spends his time outdoors. He has been volunteering his time with One Love Skate as a coach, sharing his passion for skateboarding and his love of Jesus with young skaters. He also loves exploring and hiking. He has certifications in wilderness survival, first aid, and deeply cares for our natural spaces.

He is a man with strong Christian values. He is a leader in the church and loves to serve others. His faith is the guiding factor to his worldview, and his decisions come from a place of deep reflection and prayer. You can know that Dan will act with honor and virtue, to protect those who need it, and will always have compassion.
